It takes courage to go it alone and start a business.
Your spark of inspiration motivated you to take the entrepreneurial plunge. After all, small businesses are at the heart of every community and its local economy. And while not all small businesses are the same, all small business owners have the same dilemma – getting lost in the weeds. The business of business pulls you away from your core inspiration, the very thing that motivated you to become an entrepreneur in the first place.
Not just anyone can kick a business off the ground, it takes a bold kind of person to risk a lot for a dream, and bring it all together. We’re here to say you don’t have to go it alone. We are more passionate than ever about the importance of small business. For our vibrant communities, local economies, and future entrepreneurs – we want you to succeed.

I’m Inspired By …
The world of opportunity! To me, nothing is etched in stone. No matter what is happening “out there,” there are ways to look at things differently by changing out the lenses and re-imagining the outcome differently. I come from a long line of fixers and love to dig into problems, dissect them and try out new ideas. Not working the way we thought? Working OK, but could be better? Or my favorite: Working quite well so why change it? Why, indeed. Let’s dig in!
Buffie, is that your real name?
Thanks for asking! Yes, it is, and it’s spelled with an “ie”, not a “y” (but I won’t hold that against you if you get it wrong). My grandma had a huge influence over the selection of my name – one my mom will happily share with whomever asks. Might be giving away my age here, but it’s from the TV show Family Affair not Buffy the Vampire Slayer. As you can imagine, I get asked if I’m a vampire slayer all the time. Again, thanks for asking and yes, I AM! Grandma also had a huge influence on me and the person I have become. Let’s just say she was the fixer extraordinaire and amazing! If only I could be half the woman she was.
Isn’t there more?
Sure! I was a good corporate soldier, climbing the ladder, landing that coveted Senior Vice President Title, but pushing a lot of paper and never really feeling satisfied. You might have called me jaded, and that wouldn’t have been too far from the truth. Not my choice to leave – my company decided they didn’t want to play in that sandbox any longer and didn’t need someone in my high position. But, WOW, what an amazing opportunity! There is a great deal of freedom to be told you aren’t needed anymore. What was I going to fix? The next three years as a consultant was some of the most exciting times of my life because I got to fix everyone else!! And the best part? I got paid – a lot. Who knew that was possible? But I was working for a good sized consulting firm and I was still not feeling inspired. I knew there was more, and because of luck and good fortune, it was possible to go out on my own and become the entrepreneur I never knew I wanted to be. I needed to feel like I was really doing something important. Time to move on. And it has been a roller coaster ride ever since – and I enjoy roller coasters! I found out that I have a undying love of helping people be financially self-sufficient. I believe in the power of multiplication. And I figured out that I could make a difference in the world by intertwining my gift of the fix, my passion for learning and sharing what I know, and love of business for the power to change people’s lives into a business that can support me, my family, my team and all the customers who are doing the same thing. If you want to know what makes me tick. Ask me about why entrepreneurs and business owners are so vital to our communities and our economy, and I will share a story of how being the first to tip the domino in rows and rows of dominoes is so very, very thrilling.
Quote: I don’t really know any, but here is my mantra “Just because it’s always been done that way, doesn’t mean it still needs to be done that way – even if it seems to be working.”
